Where do I pick up the campervan?

All rentals are picked up in Tirana, Albania. We offer complimentary transfers to and from Tirana International Airport (TIA / Rinas) on request. We do not currently offer pickup in other cities or one-way rentals.

What is included in the rental price?

Every rental includes:

  • Comprehensive insurance
  • Unlimited kilometers within Albania
  • Fully equipped kitchen (gas stove, fridge, sink with running water, cookware)
  • Bedding for all berths
  • Solar panel and leisure battery
  • Fresh and grey water tanks
  • Phone holder and USB chargers
  • Our curated route guide with local tips

There are no hidden fees because you book directly with us — no platform commissions.

How much does it cost to rent a campervan in Albania?

Prices vary by season and vehicle. Low season (October–April) starts from around [130 €/day], and high season (June–September) from around [160 €/day]. Booking directly with us is typically 15–20% cheaper than international platforms like Wikicampers, Yescapa, or Goboony, which add a commission on top of the owner’s price.

Can I drive the campervan to Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, or Greece?

No. Cross-border travel to Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Greece is not allowed and our insurance does not cover these countries.

What is the minimum rental period?

Our minimum rental is typically 5 to 7 days in high season, 3 days in low season. Most travelers rent for 7 to 14 days to comfortably explore both the Albanian Riviera and the northern Alps.

Do I need a special license to drive a campervan in Albania?

No. A standard EU or international driving license (Category B) is sufficient for our campervans, which are all under 3.5 tonnes. Drivers must be at least 23 years old and have held their license for at least 2 years.

Is it safe to drive a campervan in Albania?

Yes. Albania’s main roads, including the SH8 coastal road, the Llogara Pass, and the highways connecting Tirana, Shkodër, and Sarandë, are well suited to campervans. Some mountain roads in the north (such as the road to Theth) are narrow and winding, and we provide guidance on which routes are best for first-time visitors. Our team is reachable 24/7 for any issues during your trip.

Where can I park or sleep overnight in a campervan in Albania?

Wild camping is widely tolerated in Albania, especially along the coast and in the mountains. There is also a growing network of dedicated campsites and farm stays. We provide every renter with a list of our favorite overnight spots, including beaches, mountain pull-offs, and small family-run campsites with electricity and water hookups.

What are the best routes for a campervan trip in Albania?

The two classic routes are:

  • Albanian Riviera loop (7–10 days): Tirana → Vlorë → Llogara Pass → Himarë → Sarandë → Ksamil → Butrint → Gjirokastër → Berat → Tirana
  • Northern Alps loop (5–7 days): Tirana → Shkodër → Theth → Valbona → Lake Koman ferry → Tirana

With 12 to 18 days you can comfortably combine both.

How is Camper in Albania different from Wikicampers, Yescapa, or Goboony?

Wikicampers, Yescapa, and Goboony are international peer-to-peer platforms that connect you to many different private owners and add a booking commission of 15–20%. Camper in Albania is a single, locally-owned operator based in Tirana. We maintain every vehicle ourselves, are reachable 24/7 in English, Italian, Turkish and Albanian, and include a curated local route guide with every rental — at a price that is typically lower than the same vehicle on a commission-based platform.

When is the best time of year to do a campervan trip in Albania?

May–June and September–October offer the best balance of warm weather, swimmable sea, and fewer crowds. July and August are the busiest and hottest months — beautiful beaches but more traffic. April and October–November are excellent for the northern Alps when mountain roads are open and temperatures are mild.

Do you offer airport pickup at Tirana International Airport?

Yes. We offer complimentary transfers between Tirana International Airport (TIA / Rinas) and our pickup location. Just send us your flight details when you book and we will coordinate the meeting time.
